I had hired a firm to file my theft loss and it was approved. I recieved my carry back checks from the IRS and now they have decided to change everything!!! They claim I filed it to soon. I filed in 2007. So now they have denied it... My tax attys. are appealing it now. The IRS obviously randomly picks out people to deny on this. First they approve it and then they come up with some lame excuse as to why they are denying it. They are also claiming that because I went through a broker instead of handing the money directly to Lou Pearlman That it cannot be considered a theft loss. This whole thing is a joke.

I went to my own cpa that does my taxes. I ask him if he was familiar with the IRS165 ruling. He said, any CPA that is familiar with the tax laws can do this for you. My CPA did mine for me, it was totally approved by the IRS and I have recieved my refunds for the yrs of 2004-05-06-07. My CPA charged only $1500.00 for the service. Before you work with an outside firm for 20%, I would suggest you check with your own CPA, I am sure he can help you for a lot less money than this company is charging you

Hi Steve, thanks for your post. We're personally not sick of hearing from you. If you can help people recover some money that's great.

A couple of questions:
1. If someone comes to you for a review is there any charge or obligation?
2. What would they need to bring with them?
3. Can victims be assured that there will be no high-pressure sales tactics if they meet with your company?
4. What kind of fees are charged if they do use your service?

I think the answers to these questions would be helpful for those on the fence about coming to see you.

A couple of questions:

1. If someone comes to you for a review is there any charge or obligation?

There will not be a charge or obligation for a “165 Double Check”.

In fact, there is never a charge or a fee for any victim of fraud to call and learn more about their benefits under Section 165 (c)(2).

2. What would they need to bring with them?

Simply give us a call and we will make a determination over the phone. There really isn’t a need for people to personally visit with us; everyone is welcome of course; but we can accomplish most of this by phone.

Important Note:
The “165 Double Check” is really for those who have already taken a Section 165 loss of their Trans Continental investment, and

Have a loss larger than the income for the year in which they took the deduction (2007 or 2008).

If an investor still has not taken a Section 165 Deduction of their Pearlman losses; or is deducting the Trans Con loss as a Capital Loss; these investors should definitely call.

When calling, if the taxpayer had their 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 tax returns available; the determination can be made in just a couple of minutes.

I can also e-mail a worksheet to interested parties that can be completed prior to the call; or e-mailed back to me.

3. Can victims be assured that there will be no high-pressure sales tactics if they meet with your company?

You have my word. In fact, the entire process can even be handled by e-mail or fax if one desires.

We will simply calculate any additional tax benefits, if there are any, and allow the tax payer to decide if they wish to proceed with claiming those benefits.

4. What kind of fees are charged if they do use your service?

165 Services will earn 20% of the additional benefits claimed and will perform this service on a contingency basis; meaning:

No money up front----we take our fee from the Treasury Checks (refunds) issued.

We understand how difficult it is for a victim of Pearlman to trust someone they don't know; combine that with fear of the IRS and you have a situation where an actual tax benefit, designed to assist in recovery, is overlooked or sacrificed, or miscalculated; due to widespread unfamiliarity or lack of experience amongst many trusted, competent tax preparer's

Another Revenue Procedure was published recently that may affect many of you. It pertains to Net Operating Losses.

We see that many of you used your own tax professionals or H&R Block to file your Pearlman Section 165 losses. We have posted before that some definitely did not get all of the tax benefits they were entitled to....

....and how could you know? If you could determine this, you wouldn't need a tax professional.

If you made an irrevocable election to NOT to "carry back" your losses, you have an opportunity to change that decision now.

Why would your tax professional advise you to make that election instead of a "carry back" to obtain more refunds? Possibly because it is too complicated to calculate all of the items that go in to a "carry back" election.

Additionally, because of all the complications involved with Net Operating Loss carry backs---this is where a tremendous amount of benefit is lost.

In addition to giving you a one-time chance to change to a carry back; the punishment is that if you don't catch the mistakes made in calculations which caused a loss of refunds within 90-days of filing them now----the filed returns are permanent and cannot be changed if you catch them after 90-days.

You are probably tired of hearing from us, but, if you'd like to see if you did obtain the maximum benefit you were entitled to; or if it would make sense to now switch to a carry back instead of dealing simply with a single year deduction or carry forward (H&R Block customers)

Call us: 1-800-830-7617 for a "165 Double Check"

We know it is hard to trust after being a victim of Pearlman....but wouldn't you like to know if you've obtained the maximum benefit you are entitled to by law? Before it is too late.
